The hoe, also known as the "tiger shovel" in Henan, is a traditional long-handled farm tool in my country. Its blade is flat and thin and is installed horizontally. It can be used for harvesting, digging holes, making ridges, cultivating, covering soil, building weeds, breaking soil, inter-cultivation, and soil cultivation. It is a universal farm tool and one of the most commonly used tools by farmers. When using it, hold the handle with both hands and make a rotating impact movement. Its structure, shape, weight, etc. vary depending on the place and the soil.
Structure
The hoe is divided into two parts. The first part is the "hoe blade", which is used to loosen the soil and weed. The shape of the hoe blade is flat and long, just like a kitchen knife. There are also some special ones, such as rectangular, narrow, trapezoidal, etc.
The "handle" is the second part, which is a round wooden stick, usually made of hardwood, used to be installed in a hole behind the hoe blade to support the hoe blade. The length ranges from 80 cm to 160 cm, but the longer one is more convenient because the farmer does not have to bend his waist very low. The structure of the hoe hoop (eye) is D-shaped. The angle can be adjusted.
The hoe uses the lever principle to save effort, but the working efficiency is low.
